The Central Maine Commerce Center is pleased to thank our latest contributor to our award winning business park, Opechee Construction Corporation of Belmont, New Hampshire. Last year Opechee completed construction of the largest private office structure in Maine during 2012. Maine Revenue Services and the Maine Office of Information Technology occupy the structure, state organizations that moved in late last year. As the building neared completion, State of Maine officials estimated that leasing the building would save Maine taxpayers more than $1 million per year in rent.
"The majority of the trades on the project were local Maine contractors, right down to the flooring,” according to Jennifer Smith, legislative and communications coordinator for the Department of Administrative and Financial Services.
So we have a nice winning streak going here at CMCC. It was only one year earlier that the Maine Real Estate Developer's Association (MEREDA) honored MaineGeneral Health and its brand new Musculoskeletal Center, a state-of-the-art, 51,000 square foot sports medicine complex. MEREDA was so impressed with this “noteworthy & significant” building that it named it Project of the Year.
There must be a logical explanation for why all this has happened during the Great Recession that began in 2008. And there is. The CMCC is an ideal location for new professional office space. That’s why half of the park has been fully developed in just over 4 years. If you think the company you keep is important, keep in mind that we are now focused on leasing the remaining half of Maine’s fastest growing professional office community. Opportunity knocks!
